DG Network’s Tech Journey from Creation to Scale

Andrew Hahn established Marair, a dangerous goods logistics company in 1984. As Australia’s first specialist in dangerous goods transport, he built an enormous amount of IP in the dangerous goods space. So much so, that he recognised it was an asset that could be leveraged in a bigger way to assist other businesses with their policies, procedures, and handling processes to remain compliant with federal regulations.

He established DG Network to provide accessible dangerous goods handling advice at scale to the Australian market, particularly to the transportation and warehousing industries.

Andrew had previously engaged Scale My Empire to help with building Marair’s technology platform. So, in founding DG Network Andrew already knew the value that the right technology provides.


Andrew’s main objectives in pursuing technology solutions with SME:


  1. DG Network would be a ‘lean startup’ that needed to work very efficiently.
  2. He would be leveraging outsourced, low-cost team members who needed to be able to communicate effectively remotely.
  3. Andrew needed visibility over performance versus his strategy, which would allow him to make informed, fast decisions on the direction of the business.

Scale My Empire was brought in first to determine what platforms Andrew needed in order to establish the business, then make a plan of what was required to scale the business. Scott introduced the platforms, set up automations, and created the custom reporting that DG Network needed as it grew.
